Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that shaves away the uppermost layers of your skin using a special instrument which safely removes dead skin cells. You may feel scratching or slight stinging but dermaplaning isn't painful.
We use a special instrument called a dermatome to remove hair and skin cells. It's a bit like an electric razor. It has small blades that move back and forth on your skin. It doesn't make cuts and only gently shaves off your top layers of skin.
After the procedure, we apply a soothing gel to reduce redness and any possible irritation. The treatment can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Clients who have any of the following skin concerns consider dermaplaning:
• Acne scars
• Actinic keratosis (scaly patches)
• Dry or dull skin
• Peach fuzz
• Skin damage from sun exposure
• Fine lines
Dermaplaning helps reduce the appearance of acne scars and other skin imperfections by revealing newer, undamaged skin. It can make your skin look younger and feel softer. It enables skin products to penetrate deeper and be more effective. Some people also get dermaplaning for hair removal. This is only a temporary fix as your hair will grow back.
Regular dermaplaning can help with:
• Acne scars - reduce the appearance of acne scars by revealing undamaged skin.
• Skin texture - even out the texture of skin making it look brighter and smoother.
• Hair removal - remove fine facial hairs, also known as peach fuzz. Dermaplaning doesn't affect the hair follicle or change the growth pattern, so hair won't grow back thicker or darker.
• Effectiveness of skincare products - dermaplaning removes dead skin cells that can act as a barrier to skincare products, allowing them to penetrate more effectively.
